New Tricks

Image
Guess what everyone... I can say "Jesus!" You may not be able to completely understand me, but I can say His name...I promise! Mama and Dada were changing my sheets and I was up in my room reading some books. Dada asked me if I could say "Jesus" and I did! Then Mama told me to say "I love Jesus" and I did! (One word at a time, though.) I can also tell you what a cow says! Mama taught me that trick on Thursday. I have a little trouble making my "m" sound, so it kinda sounds like "booooo!" (I am GREAT with my "b's.") I also think I can oink like a pig. Mama snorts and I laugh and then I do this growl thing. I think everyone is impressed with my skill... I can also stack 5 blocks on top of each other!!! Then, I get a really big urge to knock them over so I haven't mastered 6 yet! More tricks to come! Love, Emily ps--See my next post...I look pretty cute in my Aggie cheerleader outfit!

Gig 'em, Aggies!

Image
Yesterday wasn't really my first Aggie game--I was around for all of them last year and remember being a little scared of my Dada when he would yell and holler and jump around on Saturdays--but this year I'm a little more aware of what's going on! Yesterday was the Aggies' first football game of the fall, and I celebrated by wearing my Aggie cheerleader outfit that Dennis, Jill, and Andrew Ellis gave me last year! I wore it all day--to the grocery store and other errands, my nap, and everything! Too bad I couldn't stay awake to listen to the game last night with my Mama and Dada! They gave me a full report this morning though. I'm so glad we won! I thought you'd like to see a few pictures of me in my cheerleader outfit: ps--I've discovered that diapers make really nice pillows! Over the last couple of weeks I've enjoyed getting them out of the basket, unfolding them around the living room, and laying on them. Gig 'em! Emily Class of '28

I Can Communicate!

Image
I know you're all very aware of my laughs, occasional cries, and famous shrieks , but did you know I can really communicate in ways besides this blog? Not only do I know a few words now, but I'm getting pretty good with my baby sign language too! You know about baby sign language, right? It's for smart kids like me who know what we want to say, but just can't make our mouths do it yet because they're not developed enough to be able to form words. The words I can say are: mama, dada , ball, balloon (sounds like ba - oon ), bye bye, baby, wow, owl, yes, hi, bow wow, and something for airplane that doesn't sound like "airplane." Like I mentioned, I'm also learning baby signs. The words I can "sign" are: please, more, all done, bath, book, milk, and blanket (I'm just learning that one). I'm trying to work on water, thank you, and sleep, but I don't have those down yet. I can also nod my head for yes and shake my head for no. Like...

Finally catching up!!

Image
Hola amigos y amigas! I'm working on my Spanish now--two languages down, six to go! :) I'm finally catching up on my blog. So sorry I haven't written in so long. I have been spending so much time learning to walk that I just haven't had the energy to write! I took my first steps on Friday, August 3rd. I was in the aiport waiting for Mama's bags to come and I decided to show off in front of everyone! I can now take 6-7 steps without any help between Mama and Dada. I can even stop, and then keep going, and once I even turned and looked back at Mama, then turned back and kept walking to Dada! I hope you've all seen the two videos of me walking. If you haven't, tell Mama and Dada and they'll send them to you. Grammy and Aunt Betsy Visit I had such a good time when Grammy and Aunt Betsy came to town! I have fun with them... they spoil me!! They played with me and read me lots of books, and they even took me to the park to swing! In the evenings when Dada go...

Hangin' with Dada!

Image
It's Dada Week! Mama is in Dallas visiting her family, sleeping in, and relaxing, so Dada and I have been hanging out. We've had a ton of fun, but I do miss my Mama a lot. I'm so happy I get to see her tomorrow!! Dada and I have done lots of things together--we went to Lowe's and the grocery store on Wednesday morning. Then, after my nap, Dada took me to see the National Counterterrorism Center! It was really cool for a minute, but then I pretty much hated it. Too many new faces up in my face, and none of them were my Momma's! I cried almost the entire time we were there, and didn't smile once. I don't think I'll have a "desk job" when I grow up! Needless to say, we didn't hang around there too long! We got home and I got to play with all my toys, and that helped. Then for dinner that night, we both had frozen pizza and that was good--definitely got me feeling better! Today was really fun! We got up and had breakfast, and then Dada took me ...

Hi and Bye!

Image
Hi Everyone...please forgive me for not writing in so long! I have been pretty busy...my social calendar has been pretty full! So, I really have discovered what this waving thing is all about. I wave "hi" and "bye" to everyone and everything! Airplanes (more about those in a second), toys, sippy cups, dolls, books, my blanket, puppies...you get the point! I don't get sad about not being able to take my blanket out of my room, because now I just wave bye-bye to it and tell it I'll see you at my next nap! Everywhere I go, whether it is the grocery store or Subway, I wave to the moving things I see...people, cars, birds, flags... Make sure you vote in my poll (on the right)! Airplanes! Wow! I really love to watch them go! We must live close to an airport, because they are always flying over my house! I can even hear them inside my house and I look towards the window hoping I will catch a glance! They other night in my bath, Mama was reading me a book and she sa...

Thank you Grandpa and Gigi!

Image
Here I am in my birthday present from Grandpa and Gigi! I love it--it has my name on it! I love sitting in it, and I love getting in and out all by myself. Mama and Dada are a little worried about me when I get out though, because I don't turn around and back down, oh no, I go straight down and catch myself with my hands so I'm ready to crawl! They put a pillow on the floor just for a little extra padding! Thank you for my chair! I had so much fun during Grandpa and Gigi's visit last weekend! They came in on Friday and Mama and I went to pick them up at the airport while Dada manned the grill. We had dinner, and then I hit the sack. Saturday morning was really fun, but it was unusual! Instead of leisurely eating breakfast at home, they got me dressed and we all piled in the car and headed to Great Falls National Park. We had a picnic breakfast under the trees, and it was so much fun. I really love being outside like that--I like to hear the birds and see the green trees an...

More Broccoli Please!!

Image
Tonight was such a big night...I just had to write to tell everyone about it! After I finished my dinner of chicken, cheese, bananas, grapes, and watermelon I played a little on the floor. Mama and Dada were fixing their dinner...salmon, wild rice, and broccoli. They sat down on the couch to eat while I played, but I started smelling something quite delicious from their plates! I stood up by Mama and started reaching for her food, in hopes she would share some with me. I really wanted to try the "adult" food. First, she gave me some rice on her fork and I loved it. She gave me more and more, but I noticed something green on her plate...it looked like a tree. I reached for it and she said "I don't think you are going to like this" but she let me try it anyways. I LOVE BROCCOLI!!! It had a little lemon juice on it and I thought it was great! I kept asking...whining...reaching for more and she was so happy that I liked it so much. Then, I saw that Dada had some gre...

Red, White, & Blue

Image
This was my 2nd Fourth of July to celebrate! This year was a little more action-packed than last! I really enjoyed the 4th last year with Grammy, but it was a little "low-key", according to Grammy. I remember laying in her arms on the couch and we listened to these loud banging noises outside. She kept calling them fireworks... This year, Mama and Dada told me how much I have grown up since last year! I wasn't swaddled like last year...I had on big girl clothes...jean shorts and a red-checked shirt. Speaking of clothes, Mama and Dada bought me some new shoes today! Mama has looked around for some that were my size (4-5) and she found them today! She calls them Crocs. They may have a funny name, but they sure are comfortable! They are a little big, but Dada says there's growing room. We went to a Fourth of July celebration at Claude Moore Park in Sterling. I met a clown and he made me a balloon dog. I ended up sharing him with another little boy, because his popped and...

Party Time

Image
Mama told me about this "birthday week" thing she likes to do (celebrate for a whole week just for a birthday!) and I am beginning to really like it! But I am not just getting to celebrate for a week, but almost for a whole month! I could really get used to this! Mama and Dada had a party for me at Potomack Lakes Sportsplex on Sat., June 30th. Wow...it was so much fun to see all my friends come. Aunt Lindsey and Josh came too! Let's see...we had John, Beth, Jonathan, Mia, and Sophie Lossing, Jen and Mark Whittenberg (plus a friend of Jen's), Susan, Abby, and Kimmy Fisher, Cyndy, Jeremy, Mackenzie, and Caleb Oliver, Whitney and Wesley Cook, Katie and Kevin Compton, Troy and Colin Harris (plus Troy's older son), Susan, Josh, and Adam Thomas, Darren, Minta, and Evan Cole, Mark and Sara Bateman, Kathy, Brian, Caleb, and Megan James, Jonathan and Sara Grace Dancy, Steve and Karyn Hatch, AND Colette and Daniel Cochran. It was unbelievable! I really missed having the Mei...

Happy Birthday To Me!!!

Image
Can you believe that I'm one year old? I really can't--this year has really flown by! I'm sorry it's been longer than a week since my last post--I've just been so busy planning my birthday party, which is this Saturday at Potomack Lakes Sportsplex Playground. My mama's been working her tail off too, getting everything ready and organized! Today was wonderful (except for about an hour and a half right in the middle--more on that later)! I woke up this morning and Dada was still here--I woke up to him and Mama singing Happy Birthday to me! After that, Mama and I hung out and Dada went to work. We had a really fun morning--I lotioned my skin and brushed my hair, had breakfast and a bottle, and played. After that, I took a nice, long two-hour nap. So relaxing! Then the not-so-fun part of my day started. Mama loaded me up in the car and drove me to Dr. Fischelberg's office. Dada met us there, so I knew this was not going to be fun (if it was going to be a quick t...

Speed Racer!

Image
Just had to write to tell you about my new nickname! When Mama and Dada came to pick me up from the nursery at church on Sunday (Father's Day), the nursery worker asked which child was theirs. When they said Emily, he said, "Oh, the little speed racer!" I'd been crawling all over the place the whole time they were in church! Until I saw my lamb, Whitey, peaking out of my diaper bag. Then I stopped, and looked up at it and stretched my arm toward it. The nice people in the nursery figured it out quick and got Whitey out for me. Then, back to crawling! Around and around and around I went, Whitey in tow! I love going to church! I moved from the babies room to the crawlers room about six weeks ago, and it's so much more fun. There's more room to roam, and lots of cool toys. Mama and Dada are so glad they can drop me off and that I have a good time and don't fuss--lets them enjoy church that much more! I had a great Father's Day. After church, we came home...

Trip to the big "D"

Image
Well, I am back from Dallas. I had a really good time seeing all my family! Mama and Dada kept me really busy! On the flight to Dallas, I was proud of myself...I did really well for being a kid who likes to crawl and move a lot! Dada walked me up and down the aisles and I made a few friends while I was at it! All kinds of people think I am pretty cute and I have to agree with them! When I got to Grammy's house on Thursday, I thought I had died and gone to heaven! There was so much floor to crawl on!!! Even though it was hardwood, I surprised everyone as I went in circles around the kitchen and through the bedrooms. I found I new game I really like...I find something with a smooth bottom and while I am on my knees, I push it around on floor (like I did with the laundry basket!). Very fun game! Oh...and I loved seeing Maggie...aka "baaboo". (That's what I call puppies right now!) We were good playmates for the weekend. I also went swimming! I really was a great swimmer ...
