Virginia

Well, we finally took our long-awaited trip to VA.  We did have a great time seeing friends, but we also had some little bumps along the way.  We started out with a delayed flight from San Antonio to Dallas (but we were sitting in the plane for the 1 1/2 hours...ugh) so we missed our flight from Dallas to VA.  Luckily, we got on a stand-by flight that night instead of having to stay in Dallas for the night.  Happily on the plane before all the delays started! In addition, Grant had ear infections and Emily had strep throat.  They were both on antibiotics, but the I felt like a walking pharmacy in the airport.  Before we got on planes, we did Motrin, ear drops, etc.  Overall, Grant did well on the plane.  Totally not interested in sleeping, but happy and the plane didn't seem to bother his ears.  Emily's ears were really painful on the plane and because of it, we introduced her to gum.  She is a fan.  Once we got to VA, we went t...

Maybe He Really Will Crawl

Everybody keeps asking if Grant is crawling yet.  Well, no he is not, but this proof that maybe it is around the corner.  Personally, I am enjoying that he can't crawl.  I know it will come soon enough and then nothing will slow him down!

Emily's 1st Camping Trip

Image
Well, sort of...Daddy and Emily went with Mr. Aaron and Tanner to hang out for the evening...cook out hotdogs, smores, explore, etc.  Aaron and Tanner spend the night in the tent, but Seth and Emily came back that night because Seth had school the next day.  According to Seth, Emily had a great time and I know he can't wait to really take her camping. This picture is so cute!

Praise God!

What a wonderful day!  Tonight before bed, Emily prayed and asked Jesus to come into her heart!  I really believe she understands what she's done.  Last night, Daddy read her the Easter story from her storybook Bible before bed, and we talked about how Jesus died on the cross and then rose again, and that now he lives in Heaven.  We talked about how we can pray and ask Jesus to come into our hearts and that if we do that, we will get to go to Heaven when we die. Then tonight, Mommy was reading to her and asked Emily if she remembered what she and Daddy talked about last night, and she did.  Mommy told her the same things Daddy had talked to her about, and then told her that anytime she was ready, she could pray and ask Jesus to come into her heart--she could do it today, tomorrow, or when she was older.  Daddy came in during the conversation so he got to hear it too.  We also talked about sin, and why Jesus had to die on the cross.  Then Emily t...

Fegraeus Visit

Image
Aunt Jenny, Uncle Jason, and Drew came to visit us during their spring break.  We had a great time.  We went to the zoo, rode the train, went to the Riverwalk and rode a boat (something we have been promising Emily for a while and I think she was just a wee bit excited!), and played around the house.  Drew and Emily really played well together.  Thanks Jen and Jason for coming to visit!

Happy Birthday, Drew!!!

We went to a jump and bounce place for Drew's party and Emily (& Daddy!) had a GREAT time!  Wheeee! Grant with Pops Grant with Cousin Frances Sibling love Emily helping Drew Grant talking with Cousin Pres

Yes...Snow in Dallas!

Image
We went to Dallas the weekend of Feb. 13th for Drew's 2nd birthday...and we arrived to lots and lots of snow!!!  The most snow Dallas has ever seen!  I was so glad that Emily had that experience this winter!  She liked to walk in the snow, make snow angles, and make little snowmen with daddy!  She got "soakin wet!"

9 Months...Already...

Image
9 months buddy...where has the time gone?  I am sad as I write this, because you are kinda crying right now as you try to get to sleep.  I actually think it is the first time you have shown some separation anxiety.  You and daddy were "wrestling" on the couch and then he gave you your bottle and put you to bed and I think you really still want to be playing with daddy, not sleeping!  As I think about you at 9 months, these are some of the things that pop into my head: *You weigh about 19 lbs. *You had your last nursing session today.  Mommy is happy and sad. *You will be taking 4 bottles a day/about 6 oz each. (You don't finish them all) *You eat cereal/fruit for breakfast, fruit, veggie, or yogurt for lunch, and cereal/veggie/meat for dinner. *You are doing great with finger foods, but we still have to help you with the slimy foods like banana.  *You take a morning nap around 9 and an afternoon nap around 1-2.  Both naps are typically 2 hours....

8 Months

Image
Grant, somehow 8 months came and went and I can hardly believe it.  You are growing up so much.  You weigh 18 lbs. 5 oz.  You are "talking" more (ma-ma-ma, da-da-da, ba-ba-ba, ahhhhh, etc), eating more (finger foods-peas, green beans, black beans, chicken, crackers, tortilla, bread, pancakes), playing more, and sleeping more. You continue to be such a joy to EVERYONE who is around you.  There is just something about your smile that just grabs everyone, especially your mommy and daddy.  More "facts" to come at 9 months!

Emily's Work of Art

Image
Emily drew this in the car on Jan. 24th.  She said daddy and her were doing the dishes...and I can totally see it. She really loves to draw and her pictures are getting better and have more detail.
