Virginia

Well, we finally took our long-awaited trip to VA.  We did have a great time seeing friends, but we also had some little bumps along the way.  We started out with a delayed flight from San Antonio to Dallas (but we were sitting in the plane for the 1 1/2 hours...ugh) so we missed our flight from Dallas to VA.  Luckily, we got on a stand-by flight that night instead of having to stay in Dallas for the night.
Happily on the plane before all the delays started!

In addition, Grant had ear infections and Emily had strep throat.  They were both on antibiotics, but the I felt like a walking pharmacy in the airport.  Before we got on planes, we did Motrin, ear drops, etc.  Overall, Grant did well on the plane.  Totally not interested in sleeping, but happy and the plane didn't seem to bother his ears.  Emily's ears were really painful on the plane and because of it, we introduced her to gum.  She is a fan.  Once we got to VA, we went to see our old neighbors (The Harrises, Thomases, Coles) and caught up for a few minutes.  But because it was so late, we headed out and settled into our hotel room and slept pretty good.  The next day, we went to lunch at with my sweet friend, Cyndy, but Emily was still complaining of her ears hurting and there was a little blood inside, so we took her to an urgent care center to find out that she had double ear infections too.  Poor baby.  That night, we went to Cyndy's house to have dinner (Moby Dick's kabobs...yummy) and visit with our friends, Sara and Hannah Bateman, Katie and Clara Compton, and the Oliver Crew.  That night, Emily went crazy in the hotel room.  All of the sudden, if she was sick, you wouldn't know it.  You would have thought I gave her an entire box of Fruit Loops or something.  We had so much fun laughing at her.

The following day, Seth had to work, so I went to Clearview to visit.  I used to teach at Clearview, so it was so good to see everyone and show my sweet kids off!  That night, our family went to Sweetwater (one of my favorite restaurants, ever!)  I had my favorite things to eat...spinach/artichoke dip, crabcakes, and the chocolate waffle.  The next day, I went went Cyndy to eat lunch at Red Robin.

That night, we went over to Whitney's house to have dinner and visit with the Cooks and Comptons.  The 3 little girls seemed to have fun together, even though they couldn't quite agree on how to best share the white board.  They had a pizza picnic and then posed for pictures!  Below...Clara, Wesley, and Emily.

The last day we were in VA, we met Cyndy for lunch at Potbelly and said our goodbyes.  I love my dear friends from VA.  Thanks, girls, for arranging schedules so we could hang out!  It was a great trip, but exhausting too.  Seth and I decided we love our kids, but we won't be flying with them again anytime soon.
