Just Like Mommy

My little peanut is acting more like me everyday.  The latest...she LOVES for me or daddy to scratch her legs and feet when we are singing to her before she goes to bed.  She tell me "scratch here and here" and "scratch like this" then proceed to show me where to scratch her leg or foot.  It is really precious to me.  I wonder if I feel in love with scratches and rubs at such a young age??

Randomness

Here is a cute bathtub shot... First attempt at a headband...is she beautiful or what!? One other thing I don't ever want to forget...the other day, I was correcting Emily (I don't remember what she was doing) and she said through tears "I don't like it when you say those words!"  I proceeded to tell her that Mommy and Daddy are supposed to teach their children how to behave/obey and then she said "Those sounds you say don't go into my ears!" WHAT???  That's my Emily. ;)

Look who is almost sitting up...

6 Months...I can't believe it!

Image
Happy 1/2 year birthday, Grant!  In 6 more months you will have your first bite of cake and ice cream!  Today, you will have to settle for watching mommy, daddy, and Emily celebrate on your behalf!  What a joy you have been to our family for these 6 months.  You continue to be so precious and lovable!  At the doctor, you were 26 3/4 inches long and 16 lbs. 6 oz.  It was so sad, you got 5 shots today...3 of your regular vaccinations, 1 H1N1, and 1 seasonal flu.  I prayed over your little body... This month... *You are now eating food!  (If you consider rice cereal food).  You attempt to eat 1 Tablespoon of cereal (mixed with formula) a day.    *You have also had carrots, sweet potatoes, and pears.  You seem to like the carrots best.  If I don't time your feedings right, you keep your lips sealed as tight as possible and refuse to open up. *You really love to have a toy in your hands and mouth. *You look around th...

Grant finds his feet!

On the drive back from Dallas, I looked in the backseat and found that Grant had pulled off his socks and was playing with his feet...so precious!  Then he chewed on his socks...yummy!

Thanksgiving 2009

Image
This was a hard Thanksgiving for our family.  Our sweet Jake, Seth's grandfather, passed away and went to be with the Lord on Sat., Nov. 21st.  We spent some time in San Marcos with Seth's family and then went to Dallas to visit my family.  We had a great time seeing people, but it just felt different knowing Jake is in heaven.  We love you and miss you, Jake.

Let's Go Cowboys!

Gigi and Grandpa pulled out some of Seth's old clothes...and Grant is wearing them!  So cute...

Two Peas in a Pod

Emily: "Mommy, I am so thankful for my little brother." A few days later... Emily: "Mommy, God made you so special." Emily, God has filled your heart with such sweetness!  Daddy and I are so thankful for YOU!

Grant Can Roll...Both Ways!

Image
Grant has been able to roll from his back to front, but on Nov. 14th, he rolled from his front to back!  He was laying on his tummy on my bedroom floor while I was getting dressed and I heard him squealing, so when I peeked around the corner, this is what I saw... He rolled to his back and took the green blanket with him!  Yea, Grant!

Aunt Lindsey's TX Visit

Image
Aunt Lindsey came into town this last weekend to visit Gran and Jake...and she got to see us...what a bonus!  Emily and Grant went straight to her with no hesitation...it made Seth's and my heart happy to see that Emily remembered her. While she was here, we spent our time visiting Gran and Jake in the hospital.  They both seemed to enjoy the kids' company...even though the other patients might not have enjoyed Emily's loud squeals!  Once again, it warms my heart to see Gran and Jake with my kiddos and see their joy being with them.

Grant's 1st Rice Cereal Feeding

Image
On June 9, 5 months and 1 day, we attempted rice cereal with Grant.  I mixed it with a little formula and I am not so sure he liked it.  We have tried 2 more times since and we still aren't having too much luck.  Seriously, it is hard to find time to feed the little guy.  I'll work on it, Grant, I promise!

"Special Things Drawer"

Image
What's that, you ask??  Well, it is a tiny white drawer in Emily's tiny white nightstand that is beside her bed.  There are "lots of special things" in this drawer and they are all "very special" to Emily.  Her "special jewelry box", "lucky coins" (she thinks they are from Gran and Jake and she may be right...her memory is better than mommy's), shells and a sand dollar from the beach (which she says she found with Gigi), wax animals from the zoo (a bear, lizard, and giraffe), and snowglobes (which have made their way to her dresser for "decoration").

Happy 5th Month!

Image
My little guy is 5 months today.  What a joy he is to our whole family.  I am truly trying to soak up every minute with him because I just don't know if the Sullivans are having any more kiddos.  Grant is such a wonderful baby.  I could go on and on about him... *He can roll over from his back to front (even though I haven't seen it in a long while) *We are trying to get him to sit (with us holding him), but he doesn't like it one bit...he straightens his body like a board! *He likes to suck on his left wrist...weird... *He gives the most wonderful smiles to just about everyone... *He typically only cries when he is tired and hungry. *He loves to watch Emily...he flinches quite a bit when she is "playing" with him, but he gives her the best smiles and laughs. *He is eating 5 times a day...7, 11, 2, 5, 8 *He is sleeping from 8 pm to about 7 am.  He takes a great morning nap, after the 11 feeding we typically get out of the house and he will snooze in the ...

Oh, Emily...

Too funny...I put Emily to bed about 30 mintues ago.  I was sitting on the couch and all of the sudden she was standing in the living room.  She said "Just seeing how things are going in here."  I said, "What in the world are you doing?" and she looked at me with that precious face and said "I'm just sneaking in here."  It was really priceless to see her face.

Happy Halloween

Image
We really enjoyed our 1st Halloween with our 2 kiddos!  Emily was Cinderella and Grant was a pumpkin.  We went to the Barrick's house for "Frito Pie Fright Night" and had a great time with our friends.  We trick-or-treated at a few houses and then came back to our neighborhood to visit a few friends' houses...the Harris and Elkins families.  We finally ended our night at our cul-de-sac and Emily and Daddy trick-or-treated and Grant and Mommy passed out candy.  Emily then joined me to pass out candy and she LOVED it.  Seeing the girls dressed up as a bunch of grapes and candy corn were the hits of the night!
