Happy Birthday To Me!!!
Can you believe that I'm one year old? I really can't--this year has really flown by! I'm sorry it's been longer than a week since my last post--I've just been so busy planning my birthday party, which is this Saturday at Potomack Lakes Sportsplex Playground. My mama's been working her tail off too, getting everything ready and organized!
Today was wonderful (except for about an hour and a half right in the middle--more on that later)! I woke up this morning and Dada was still here--I woke up to him and Mama singing Happy Birthday to me! After that, Mama and I hung out and Dada went to work. We had a really fun morning--I lotioned my skin and brushed my hair,
had breakfast and a bottle, and played. After that, I took a nice, long two-hour nap. So relaxing!
Then the not-so-fun part of my day started. Mama loaded me up in the car and drove me to Dr. Fischelberg's office. Dada met us there, so I knew this was not going to be fun (if it was going to be a quick trip, I bet he would have stayed at work!). Boy was I right--no fun at all! They weighed me (22 lbs.), measured me (31 in.), and measured my head (18.25 in.). They told me I had a big head for a girl my age, and then they measured my Dada's head and said, "Wow--you've got a large noodle!" That made me feel a little better! Dada's head is bigger than average, so Dr. F said it's no big deal that my head circumference is around the 80th percentile. In case you were wondering, I'm still above the 95th percentile in length! Dr. F came in and was all up in my business, and I was not happy about it. I cried and whined the whole entire time. Then I had to get shots--three of them... on my birthday... Let me tell ya, I did not like that one single little bit. Didn't they know I'm a princess???
Things got better quick. We came home and I took another two-hour nap. When I woke up, I felt much better and we all three headed to the pool!
I really love the pool. I splashed around and played and just had a ball.

Lots of people called me today, and I really enjoyed talking to them all on speaker phone: Grandpa & Gigi, Grammy, Aunt Jenny, Pops, Aunt Lindsey, Gran & Jake, and Mimi! All my favorite people!
I had a great dinner--meatballs, plum, cheese, cereal, and mashed-up squash. Yum yum! (Future blog will tell you all about my favorite foods.) Then I tried a strawberry cupcake that Dada baked for me last night. I wasn't crazy about the icing--it was a little sweet--but I liked the cake part quite a bit! It was pink! I get another cake for my party on Saturday, and another cake when Grandpa and Gigi come!

After that, it was off to the bath and then to bed (after goodnight hugs). All in all, despite the doctor, it was a great day! I miss all my Texas and Pennsylvania family, but I know I'll get to see them soon!

Love, Emily
